On Thursday February 20th, 2020, the validation workshop of regulatory acts relating to the implementation of the Interconnected System for the Management of Goods in Transit (SIGMAT) was closed. The closing ceremony was chaired by the Senegal Customs General Director, Mr. Abdourahmane DIEYE, with the presence of two countries’ experts, technical and financial partners and employers.

At the opening of the ceremony, the Customs IT Systems Director presented the historical background of the SIGMAT project and the evolution of its implementation. Mr. Alioune DIONE then presented the next steps of the project, namely its communication for a good appropriation of the solution and users’ training for its effective implementation. Following the It Systems Director, Mr. Yacouba CISSOUMA, head of the Malian Customs’ Facilitation Division shared the main recommendations which came out from the workshop.

The head of the Malian delegation, Mr. Diagueli DIAKITE, the World Bank representative, Mrs. Clara TENA and the Coordinator of the Project from the GIZ, Mr. Makhtar DIOP, congratulated the participants for their work and renewed their commitment to support the two customs administrations for the success of the SIGMAT project.
The ceremony ended with the closing speech of the Senegal Customs General Director.
In his speech, he expressed his commitment for the success of this important project and acknowledged partners’ support.
