Senegal and Guinea border reopening: the Regional head of customs visited the Manda and Kalifourou units

Following the official opening of Senegal and Guinea-Conakry border, the Southern Regional Director visited the Manda and Kalifourou Units, Kolda Subdivision.

Colonel Malang DIÉDHIOU’s delegation was headed to the Kolda Subdivision headed by Lieutenant-Colonel Georges SILVA, also the Head of Vélingara sector and the Head of Administrative and financial matters.

Mobilizing again troops around main orientations and objectives set by authorities was at the stake. On that occasion, the Head of the south instructed customs’ officers to be responsive to users and populations’ needs and work in close collaboration with other Defense and Security Forces, accordingly to general director’s ‘recommendations during his tour in  the Southern region..

Colonel Malang DIÉDHIOU took the opportunity to visit the juxtaposed border post of Boundou Fourdou, 33 km from Kalifourou.

One should recall that the Senegalese-Guinean border was closed on September 26th, 2020 by the Guinean authorities. Overall, the recovery is going well and Customs’ officers are more determined than ever to play their part in the border’s management between Senegal and Guinea.
